the XVIII Danube-European Conference on Geotechnical Engineering,
to be held in Budapest, Hungary,
from 9 to 12 June 2027
and invites abstracts up to the extended deadline of
28 February 2026.
Accepted papers will be published in the series of
Lecture Notes in Civil Engineering of Springer, which is indexed in the Scopus system.

Beautiful life of Professor Kenji Ishihara
Professor Kenji Ishihara,
who served as President of the International Society for Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering from 1997 to 2001,
has peacefully concluded his rich and impactful 91-year life.
With friends and colleagues and former students all around the world,
he was a unique researcher, scientist, engineer and teacher.
Guided by a precious curiosity, deep understanding, and an inexhaustible abundance of ideas,
serving in countless committees and working on countless projects,
Professor Ishihara stays with us through his teachings, his conclusions and questions, his numerous papers,
and his immeasurable impacts on our lives.
