Split 2026 SATURDAY, 14 November 2026

Split has been developing for 1,700 years, growing from the palace of Roman Emperor Diocletian into a city of charming narrow streets with stone houses, and expanding into splendid new districts with tree-lined avenues and numerous parks. The largest park is located on the Marjan hill peninsula, featuring seaside beaches and many paths with beautiful views stretching across Kaštela Bay, the Kozjak mountain, and the islands all the way to Vis. Although strong winds thinned the forest on the north side last year, Marjan remains an invaluable treasure of this city.

Employees of the Croatian Geological Institute have created a geological map of the peninsula for the Marjan Forest Park; they will present the map on Saturday and take the conference participants to the most interesting points: Kaštelet >>>, Šantine stine >>> and Telegrin >>>. After that, a guided walk through the old city centre and lunch by the Iron Gate of the Palace, on the Pjaca Square, are planned.
