The XXXI Széchy Károly memorial session is taking place on 13 February 2026
President of the Croatian Geotechnical Society, Professor Goran Vlastelica, PhD,
presented our Society, and announced the ISRM conference SPLIT 2026,

and the International Conference on
Earthquake Geotechnical Engineering
in Croatia in 2029

The Hungarian Geotechnical Society, the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, Section of Engineering Sciences and the Geotechnical Section of the Hungarian Chamber of Engineers in co-operation with the professional institutions yearly organize the most prestigious event of the Hungarian Geotechnial Profession, the Széchy Károly Memorial Session, which is usually held in the Great Hall of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences and is followed by a Geotechnical Gala Dinner. At the Memorial Session, the Károly Széchy Memorial Award is presented, which is considered a lifetime achievement award for the profession.
